Mueller, Fragm. 11: 55 (1878), provides a diagnosis for this palm but does not directly cite a name for it there, merely indicating that it may be a species or a variety and should be named for "Doctoris Oscaris Drude". The species name is provided in the index on p. 147 (1881) with a reference to p. 55, and this is here considered to be sufficient to validate the name at species rank under ICN Art. 38.1 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
