"Schauer [i.e. J.C.Schauer, Monogr. Myrt. Xerocarp. 190 (1843)] was mistaken in supposing that A. Cunningham's specific name of taxifolia was a misprint; it was intended to allude to the peculiar bifarious arrangement of the leaves in luxuriant branches".
