A reputed hybrid E. longifolia x E. robusta was the basis of E. longifolia var. multiflora Maiden (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. longifolia x E. tereticornis was the basis of E. longifolia var. turbinata Blakely & Beuzev. ex Blakely (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). Hybrids are recorded between E. parramattensis subsp. parramattensis (incl. subsp. sphaerocalyx) and E. longifolia (Hill & Johnson, 1991).
