"The inclusion of this species in the Australian flora is based on a report by M.W.Holtze from South Australia. The species is the type of a mostly Asian series (Barneby, 1991); the protologue gives the origin as the "l'Inde", sent to Lamarck by Sonnerat."

APC Comment:
An Asian taxon included in a list of introduced plants in the Northern Territory by M.W.Holtze, Trans. Proc. & Rep. Roy. Soc. S. Australia 15: 2 (1892), but not known to occur in Australia. Possibly a misapplication to Mimosa pigra L. according to I.L.Miller & W.M.Lonsdale, Pl. Protection Quarterly 2(3): 140–142. (1987).
