• Comment: nom. illeg., nom. superfl., non Acmena brachyandra (Maiden & Betche) Merr. & L.M.Perry. Johnson cited A. australis as a new combination ("comb. nov.") with Memecylon australe C.Moore (1893) as its "basionym". He was apparently unaware that Moore's name is an illegitimate later homonym of M. australe F.Muell. ex Triana (1871). Johnson's name is therefore treated as a (superfluous) replacement name and not a new combination.
