  • Text: "With the paucity of descriptive details in the protologue and not having seen the type (if indeed one exists) I cannot ascertain with certainty the taxon to which this name applies. Although Paxton regarded it as a variety of A. pulchella he described the plant as reaching 20 feet (6 m) high; this would be a most atypical stature for a species which under natural conditions does not exceed 1.5 m tall."
