• Text: "As J.H.Maiden (loc. cit. [i.e. J. & Proc. Roy. Soc. New South Wales 51: 105 (1917)) was providing a new name for Pritzel’s later homonym, the type of his A. proxima is the type of A. camptoclada E.Pritz. The syntypes of A. camptoclada are not at herb. B: they were probably destroyed during World War II. Consequently I am unable to apply this name with certainty to existing taxa. A specimen of A. ancistrocarpa at herb. PERTH, which is not at variance with the descriptive text of the protologue, is possibly an iso-syntype of A. camptoclada: '342 Acacia arida Benth. Roebourne, April 1901. Collected and presented by Dr. Diels and Pritzel.' However, this specimen is not labelled A. camptoclada, it does not bear Diels' collecting number and the locality is a little different from that given in the type citation. Were this specimen deemed to be a type, and selected as the lectotype of A. camptoclada, then A. proxima would become the name for the widespread arid zone species, A. ancistrocarpa."
