  • Comment: "This taxon is listed as being naturalised in Tas. in a preliminary checklist of grasses occurring in Australia (B.K.Simon, Tech. Bull. Bot. Branch Queensland Dept. Prim. Industr. 3: 19, 1978) but no specimens have been seen to validate this record." The Australian Plant Name Index (Chapman, 1991) says the base name of B. lepidus is Serrafalcus mollis var. microstachys, but the protologue of B. lepidus says that it is a new name for the illegitimate B. gracilis Krosche, and the protologue of B. gracilis does not make any reference to S. mollis var. microctachys either. It is not known on what basis Chapman connected the two names."
