Dietrich attributes this combination to "Benth. in ann. Wien. mus. 2. p. 417" [i.e. G.Bentham, Ann. Wiener Mus. Naturgesch. 2: 417 (1839)]. While Bentham indicated that Dalbergia scandens Roxb. should perhaps be placed in the genus Brachypterum he did not definitely associate the genus name with the specific epithet as required by ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
