The proposal to... 'conserve Brachycome Cass. (Compositae) to maintain that spelling in preference to the original Brachyscome (proposed by Adolphi et al. Taxon 38: 511, 1989' resulted in a tied vote. Brummit commented then that '..although technically the vote is indecisive and the issue may still be argued, it appears now that the spelling Brachyscome should be preferred'.
Note that a further proposal was debated at the latest ICBN conference in St Louis (2000) to allow original authors to amend orthographic errors, thus validating the corrected name. The example used in this proposal was Brachycome.
