Eucalyptus leiophloia var. lepidophloia Blakely & Jacobs , legitimate, scientific
Blakely, W.F. (1934), A Key to the Eucalypts: 83 [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "N.T. – Track to Katherine River, and Katherine River. Professor W. Baldwin Spencer (the type)"
Blake, S.T. (1953), Botanical contributions of the Northern Australia Regional Survey. I. Studies on northern Australian species of Eucalyptus. Australian Journal of Botany 1(2): 248 [secondary reference]
  • Lectotype: "Jacobs 71 from slopes from Stapleton to Daly R. (NSW, AFSC, BRI) ; Plate 21."
  • Text: "Spencer's specimens from 'Track to Katherine River, and Katherine River" were quoted as the type; Jacobs 71 with field observations was also quoted... At Sydney, Jacobs's specimen is marked TYPE; this agrees with the description, and since the variety is based largely on habit and bark (characters not described by Spencer) it seems that this is correct and that some error occurred in the protologue."
Chippendale, G.M. in George, A.S. (ed.) (27 June 1988), Eucalyptus. Flora of Australia 19: 82 [secondary reference]

  • Type: " 'Track to Katherine River, and Katherine River; Professor W. Baldwin Spencer (the type).' ... The holotype is in NSW."
  • Text: "Blake (1953: 248) stated that elements of the description do not match this specimen, and designated a different specimen as lectotype (Jacobs 71, also cited by Blakely, but not as type). However, Blakely's designation is an irrefutable part of the protologue and must be upheld."
