  • Etymology: "Among the material seen at Kew was an undescribed species the specimens of which had been placed together by Mr. C. E. Hubbard, who proposed to name it after its collector, Professor J. B. Cleland of Adelaide, whose collections and active interest have contributed much to our knowledge of Australian plants. With Mr. Hubbard's kind permission this species is described below, the type being a more recently collected specimen."
