Mueller attributes the name to "Ferd. Mueller in Linnaea, XXV. 380.", but the name given there is Abutilon diplotrichum F.Muell. ex Schltdl., with a footnote "Sidae subgenus". Mueller thus did not definitely associate the genus name and specific epithet as required by ICN Art. 35.2 (Melbourne Code, 2012) until 1859, when the new combination was validly published via reference to the previously published description and basionym.
