Etymology:
"The epithet, neesii, honours Theodor Freidrich Ludwig Nees von Esenbeck (1787-1837), professor of Pharmacy at Bonn. He was the younger brother of Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck (1776-1858), professor of botany at Breslau, and president of the Leopoldine Academy, after whom Amphibromus neesii is named."
