  • Etymology: "From Latin pallens (pale), a reference to the pale coloured corollas (pale yellow or cream, sometimes partially flushed red) relative to the other two species from the S. tamminensis alliance that occur in the Geraldton Sandplains, S. williamsiorum and S. hyalina, which respectively have corollas that are dark purple or red throughout."
  • Comment: The caption for Figure 4 gives the species epithet as pallida, in error.
