Etymology:
"Named after the town of Mukinbudin, which is a centre for the occurrence of Balaustion, with seven additional taxa recorded in or near the Shire of Mukinbudin: B. bimucronatum, B. exsertum, B. filifolium, B. interruptum, B. karroun, B. pulcherrimum and B. quinquelobum. The epithet is formed as a noun in apposition."
