  • Etymology: "The name of this species (Gonocarpus orchardii) honors Anthony E. Orchard, a renowned Australian botanist, notably responsible for a comprehensive taxonomic revision of Haloragaceae. His taxonomic work and expansion of collections in the family have made this study possible."
