Salsola sabrinae Mosyakin , legitimate, scientific
Mosyakin, S.L. (2018), Notes on Australian species of Salsola (Chenopodiaceae) and validation of Salsola sabrinae, nom. et stat. nov. Ukrainian Botanical Journal 75(1): 10 [nom. et stat. nov.]
replaced synonym: Salsola tragus subsp. grandiflora Rilke legitimate taxonomic synonym: Salsola australis subsp. Lucid (R.J.Chinnock 10212) [n/a]
  • Etymology: "The new name is given to the Australian species in recognition of the valuable contributions of Sabrina Rilke to the taxonomy of Salsola (Rilke, 1999)."
  • Text: "The name Salsola grandiflora Link ex Steud. (Steudel, 1841: 502) was validly published with the reference to "S. Soda. Brot.", which can be interpreted as indirect reference to the Latin description of Salsola soda sensu Brot. (Fl. Lusit. 1: 404. 1804), non L. (Brotero, 1804). Consequently, the epithet "grandiflora" cannot be used for another species in Salsola because of the existing earlier homonym (Art. 53.1 of the ICN: McNeill et al., 2012)."
