  • Type: Xalocoa ocellata (Vill.) Kraichak, Lucking & Lumbsch.
  • Etymology: "The name is derived from the Catalan name ‘'aloc' for scirocco, the warm Mediterranean wind originating in the Sahara. This refers to the distribution of the taxon in areas with Mediterranean climate. We have chosen the Catalan version of the word to honour our Catalan colleague Xavier Llimona for his contributions to our understanding of Mediterranean lichens and the taxonomy of the genus Diploschistes sens.lat."
