Western Australia: 4 miles [c. 6 km] SW of Mt Frankland, Thompson Road, c. 10 miles [16 km] N of Walpole, B.G. Briggs 647b, 18 Sep 1966 [female] (holo NSW 84836; iso PERTH).

Etymology:
"the epithet refers to the spathes extending beyond the inflorescence branches and the long tepals: extensus (Latin) = stretched out."
