• Comment: Although a separate description is not given for the genus the name is validly published by provision of a description for the single species, Mephitidia hexandra Blume (descriptio generico-specifica; ICN Art. 38.5 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)). This is despite Blume indicating that a total of six species are attributable to the genus (ICN Art. 38.6 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)).
