  • Etymology: "The specific epithet cummingii honours Russell John Cumming (1959 -), prolific collector and talented field botanist, who has contributed greatly to our knowledge of the flora of central and northern Queensland. Russell discovered H. cummingii in 2003 and was the first to recognise it as distinct from H. porteri s.s."
