  • APC Dist.: WA
  • Etymology: Korijekup was the name originally given to the town of Harvey (Staples 1979). It originates from the Nyoongar word korridg-e-cup – the name given by Aborigines from the Harvey region to the red-tailed black cockatoo (Bindon & Chadwich 1992) or the place of the red-tailed black cockatoo (Staples 1979). Red-tailed black cockatoos have been observed on each investigation of the population. The epithet is formed as a noun in apposition.
