Ranunculaceae Juss.
Clematis aristata var. breviappendiculata Kuntze , legitimate, scientific
Kuntze, C.E.O. (1885), Verhandlungen des Botanischen Vereins der Provinz Brandenburg und die angrenzenden Lander 26: 156 [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "var. 1 rarius [?]: Botany bay, Blue Mountains (!mus. bot. berol.)"
  • Comment: Given as Clematis aristata subsp. normalis var. breviappendiculata.
  • APC Comment: Published as Clematis aristata subsp. normalis var. breviappendiculata. Kuntze created two different var. breviappendiculata names, one under his subsp. normalis (treated here), the other under subsp. pubescens. Under ICBN (Vienna Code (2006)) Articles 53.4 and 53.6 (incl. Note 3) only one of these names can be accepted, the other being a nom. rej. (but remaining legitimate). N.G.Walsh, Fl. Australia 2: 304 (2007) chose the combination under subsp. normalis, rejecting that under subsp. pubescens. A similar situation and solution applies to var. longiappendiculata.
