"Van Ooststroom (in Blumea, Suppl. 1: 195. 1937) regarded a Hermann specimen in L as the type. However, it was almost certainly never seen by Linnaeus, a supposition borne out by Linnaeus' statement (Fl. Zeylanica: 178. 1748) "Inter pictas Hermanni plantas est" implying he had seen only the drawing in the Hermann collection (now in BM) rather than a Hermann specimen."

Text:
"Jarvis (2007) considered that a lectotype for this species has not been designated, postulating that Linnaeus did not see the specimen designated by van Ooststroom (1937). If so, the Hermann specimen could be a good candidate for designation as the neotype."
