• Comment: J.M.Black attributes authorship of this species to "(F. v. M.) Benth. ex Hook.", probably in reference to G.Bentham & J.D.Hooker, Gen. Pl. 2(1): 110 (1873). While Bentham and Hooker indicate that the Canthium species from G.Bentham, Fl. Austral. 3: 420 (1867) belong to Plectronia, they do not make the combinations at species rank.
