  • Etymology: "From the Latin affinis (related to), as Endlicher (in Endlicher et al. Enum. Pl. 46-51 (1837)) believed the species was closely related to the eastern Australian species Baeckea linifolia Rudge. However, any similarity between the two taxa is superficial and they show many significant differences."
