Hybrids have been recorded between Kunzea micrantha subsp. oligandra and K. micromera and K. recurva. The type of K. sprengelioides Turcz. is a hybrid between Kunzea micrantha subsp. oligandra and K. recurva (H.R.Toelken, J. Adelaide Bot. Gard., 17: 76, 77 (1996)).
