common name: Vokes Hill Mallee [n/a]
  • Etymology: The scientific and common names refer to Vokes Hill, between the Serpentine Lakes and Emu in the Great Victoria Desert of SA, which is one of the localities where the species occurs. It has been discovered that Vokes Hill and ohter nearby geographical features were actually named after W. Voakes, and so both spellings can be encountered for geographical features in the region.
