Adams, L.G. (25 October 1995), Chionogentias (Gentianaceae), a new generic name for the Australasian 'snow-gentians' and a revision of the Australian species. Australian Systematic Botany 8(5): 957, fig. 1 [tax. nov.]
  • Type: Australian Capital Territory: Snowy Flat, near Mt Gingera; margin of boggy flat on gentle slope, alt. ca. 5300 feet, 35 33'S 148 47'E. R. Pullen 3077 28 Feb. 1962; (holo: CANB105511; iso: A, AD 96227094, B, BH, BM, BO, BRI 137879, FR, G, K, L, MEL 709971, NE, NSW 283313, P, PERTH 2468069, PNH, US).
  • Etymology: "The epithet is derived from Mt Gingera, Namadgi National Park, the type locality. The use of the initial 'J' rather than 'G' has been adopted to reflect more objectively the Aboriginal phonetic jingera (= a remote and mountainous forested region); these mountain ranges were a summer venue for pre-European bogong moth feasts by coastal and plains tribes."
