Blechnaceae Newman
Blechnum occidentale L. , legitimate, scientific
Linnaeus, C. (1 May 1753), Species Plantarum 2: 1077 BHL [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "Habitat in America meridionali."
  • Comment: Linnaeus used the specific epithet occidentale for a species of Blechnum collected in China and orientale for a species from the Americas. He later corrected this in Sp. Pl. 2nd edn, 1534-1535 (1763). The transposition is here treated as a correctable typographical error under ICN Art. 60.1 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
