Etymology:
The epithet refers to the characteristic colour of the glumes and lower leaf sheaths, as well as to the confusion of this taxon with C. angustatus and C. dacylotes. It comes from the Latin fucosus, a purplish red colour (from the alga Fucus) and also, secondarily, painted or disguised.
