The name "Eucalyptus varia subsp. varia" is listed by M.I.H.Brooker & D.A.Kleinig, Field Guide Eucalypts 2: 418 (1990). However, this autonym did not exist until established by M.I.H.Brooker & S.D.Hopper, Nuytsia 8(1): 165 (1991), in accordance with ICN Art. 26.3 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
