Pedley in Austrobaileya 2 (1987) had noted the specimen which subsequently became the type of this species as an aberrant form of Acacia deltoideum, and later (Pedley in Austrobaileya 6, 2003) reduced A. vincentii to a synonym of Racosperma deltoideum (=A. deltoidea).
