  • Etymology: "The species is named in honour of the Durack family, whose ancestors reached the Ord River in 1885 to take up settlements in the area in which E. durackiana occurs. The century of pastoral history of the family in the Kimberley region has been admirably chronicled by Dame Mary Durack in her two books, now classics, 'Kings in Grass Castles' (1959) and 'Sons in the Saddle' (1983) (Constable, London, Hutchinson, Australia)."
