A northern hemisphere taxon, now referred to Avenula pubescens (Huds.) Dumort., recorded as a "naturalized alien" by A.J.Ewart, Vict. Naturalist 24: 191 (1908), but not known to be naturalised in Australia.

"Listed for Vic. by A.J.Ewart, Vict. Naturalist 24: 191 (1908), based on a specimen collected by Charles Walter in 1900. The species has not been collected in Australia since and it is not considered naturalised. The specimen in MEL was correctly identified at the time and has since been redetermined as Helictotrichon pubescens (L.) Pilg., Repert Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 45: 6 (1938)."
