The name Helichrysum thyrsoideum was treated as invalid by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 1561 (1991) on the basis that P.Morris and J.H.Willis (Vict. Nat. 59: 84-88 (1942)) do not refer to the basionym. However the basionym is indicated on p. 84 of their work, satisfying Art. 33.2 of the ICBN (2006).
