• APC Comment: G.Bentham, Fl. Australiensis 3: 80 (1867) attributes authorship of the name Baeckea linifolia var. brevifolia to Mueller, citing Fragm. 4: 72 (1864), however the taxon is not described there, nor is it listed in the index to Fragmenta. This authorship has been adopted by some subsequent authors (e.g. A.R.Bean, Telopea 7: 250 (1997)). A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index, 345 (1991) attributes authorship to A.J.Ewart, Fl. Vic. 871 (1931), but this is an illegitimate later homonym. The name is validly published by Bentham (loc. cit.)
