• Etymology: "...named in honour of Mr F. S. Brockman, of the Department of Lands and Surveys."
• Comment: Fitzgerald provides a very brief description of the plant's growth habit and states that it is "the largest flowered species known". This is here considered to constitute a diagnosis of the new taxon, as required for valid publication under ICN Art. 38.1(a) (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
