Polypodiaceae J.Presl & C.Presl
Dictymia attenuata J.Sm. , nom. illeg., nom. superfl., scientific
Smith, J. (1846), An enumeration of ferns cultivated in the Royal Gardens at Kew, in December 1845; with characters and observations on some of the genera and species. Curtis's Botanical Magazine 72: 16 BHL [nom. nov.]
replaced synonym: Polypodium attenuatum R.Br. nom. illeg.
  • Comment: Reference to the replaced synonym indirect, via Smith's citation of this species name as "D. attenuata, J. Sm.; R. Br." and his synonymisation of "Polypodii sp., R. Br." under the genus entry for Dictymia J.Sm.
  • Comment: nom. illeg., nom. superfl. as the name Polypodium attenuatum R.Br., nom. illeg., had been replaced in 1826 by Polypodium brownii Wikstr. The epithet brownii was available in Dictymia in 1846 and thus ought to have been adopted by Smith (ICN Art. 11.4 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)).
