"Bentham described two species in his new genus Isotropis, I. biloba Benth. and I. striata Benth. but did not designate either as the type as this was not a practice at the time. Bentham recognised I. striata as a good species, but included I. biloba as a synonym, having examined a broader range of specimens since his original treatment. On that basis, we here designate I. striata as the type of the genus."
