Reference to replaced synonym indirect, via Mueller's citation of the place of publication of this name as "F. v. M., fragm. VIII, 175 (1874)". While F.J.H. von Mueller, Fragm. 8: 175 (1874), discusses his belief that Dicksonia antarctica is not an appropriate name and that the epithet should thus be substituted with one honouring the first person to describe the species [i.e. Labillardière], he does not definitely associate the genus name and a new specific epithet as required under ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
