Senecio lautus var. macrocephalus Hook.f. , legitimate, scientific
Hooker, J.D. (6 September 1852), The botany of the Antarctic voyage of H.M. discovery ships Erebus and Terror. II. Flora Novae-Zelandiae 1(2): 145 [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "Throughout the Islands, very abundant, especially on maritime rocks, Banks and Solander, Forster, etc."
Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria (2011), Australian Plant Census: - APC [secondary reference]
  • APC Comment: A New Zealand taxon, now referred to Senecio sterquilinus Ornduff, recorded for Australia by A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2631 (1991), on the basis of J.D.Hooker's Fl. Nov.-Zel. 1(2) 145 (1852) treatment of the species. However, Hooker does not record the varietal taxon from Australia, only the species in the broad sense.
