  • APC Comment: By inclusion of the name (and by implication its type) Xylomelum scottianum in his circumscription of "X. salicinum" G.Bentham, Fl. Australiensis 5: 408 (1870) inadvertently made the latter a superfluous illegitimate name, based on the type of X. scottianum, thereby leaving the taxon until recently known as X. salicinum without a valid name. A.E.Orchard, J. Adelaide Bot. Gard. 21: 89 published X. benthamii Orchard for this latter taxon.
