  • Etymology: "The genus is named after Mr. J. H. Maiden, Director of the Sydney Botanic Gardens, to whom I am indebted for the opportunity of examining the specimens."
  • Text: "...collected in 1906... by Mr. W. V. Fitzgerald, who recognized the plant as a new genus, and whose name I have adopted."
