  • Etymology: "From Latin, teres, terete, and folium, a leaf. This seems an odd name to assign to a member of a genus where so many of its species have terete leaves. However as the species was originally described as a Banksia..., the reason for the name can be more easily understood."

  • APC Comment: R.M.Barker et al. Fl. Australia 17B: 94 (1999) use the attribution Lambertia teretifolia (Salisb.) C.F.Gaertn., but in Gaertner's work there is no reference to the earlier Banksia teretifolia Salisb. The Lambertia name should thus be attributed to Gaertner alone, based on the Lambert specimen cited.
