  • A widespread taxon from the northern hemisphere, now referred to Carex nigra (L.) Reichard subsp. nigra, recorded by P.F.A.Ascherson & P.Graebner in P.F.A.Ascherson & K.R.O.P.P.Graebner (eds), Syn. Mitteleur. Fl. 2 (2): 94 (1904), but not known to occur in Australia.
