  • APC Comment: Garden (1957) knew this species only from Tasmania. Subsequently populations were discovered in NSW, and Hill (1998) recognised three subspecies, one in Tasmania and two in NSW. Farjon (2005) argued that the measurements used to characterise the subspecies were far more variable and overlapping than previously reported and combined NSW and Tas taxa in a single unitary species, the view adopted here.
