Introduction

[Modified after Edwards in Nielsen et al. (1996: 97)].
The Blastodacninae were considered a subfamily of the Agonoxenidae by Hodges (1978) and Scoble (1992). They were considered a separate family by Common (1990) and Nielsen & Common (1991) who placed no Australian species in the family. Widespread genera which occur in Australia were placed in the Blastodacninae by Hodges (1978), Leraut (1980) and Nye & Fletcher (1991) and these are included in the family here. Hodges (1997, 1998) is followed in recognition of Agonoxeninae as a subfamily of Blastodacnidae and assignment of genera.

Edwards in Nielsen et al. (1996: 97) noted the following name as an unplaced species in the family Blastodacnidae:

Lithocolletis agrapha Turner, A.J. (1947). Contributions to our knowledge of Australian Microlepidoptera. Proc. R. Soc. Qd 57: 65-74 [71].
