Introduction
The genus Rhizoglyphus has had a complicated history of taxonomic confusion (reviewed by Díaz et al., 2004). The Australasian members of the genus were revised by Fan & Zhang (2004), but some older records were probably based on misidentifications which have not always been resolved. In addition to the named species listed here, unidentified species of Rhizoglyphus have been reported from Australia by Clift (1983).

Introduction
Fan & Zhang (2004) recorded this species from palm seed from Australia intercepted in New Zealand quarantine. The species is presumed to occur in Australia.

Introduction
Rhizoglyphus termitum Womersley, 1941 is not a species of Rhizoglyphus (see Díaz et al. 2000). Its correct taxonomic placement has not been determined, but it appears to be a species of Histiostomatidae.
